Relying on a blood glucose meter, effectively test and distinguish blood sugar levels.

We are now in an era of IoT, automation, and technological innovation, and ATAGO, guided by the principle of staying ahead of the times, is proudly introducing its groundbreaking NFC feature. This capability has been fully implemented in the PAL‑1 digital refractometer—designed for measuring sugar content in fresh fruits. No more manually recording measurements; simply bring the device close to an NFC reader on your smartphone or computer, and all results are instantly displayed at a glance!

Although in recent years, with further advances in productivity, people’s quality of life has improved markedly and access to healthcare has become increasingly reliable, it must be acknowledged that the population affected by diabetes is steadily expanding—encompassing not only middle-aged and older adults but also a growing number of adolescents and even young children.

For people with diabetes, regular medical follow-up visits are essential; during these visits, particular attention should be paid to trends in blood glucose levels, and prompt therapeutic interventions must be initiated whenever abnormalities are detected.

 Glucose meter

As medical knowledge becomes increasingly widespread among the public and medical equipment advances rapidly, many families are paying closer attention to the physical and mental well-being of their primary household members. Particularly for households with elderly relatives or young children, it is common to keep some home‑use medical devices on hand, and blood glucose meters are among the most convenient and efficient options. With a blood glucose meter, individuals can readily and accurately monitor their blood sugar levels, making it an essential tool for managing hyperglycemia and diabetes.

For individuals who already have diabetes, regularly and consistently monitoring blood glucose levels with a glucometer—and paying close attention to any changes in those readings—is of great importance. Although blood glucose monitoring is well‑known among people with diabetes, with some patients performing it almost daily, failing to measure at the correct times can compromise the accuracy of the results. In general, there are three key time points for blood glucose testing:

1. Measure fasting blood glucose between 6:00 and 8:00 a.m.

Fasting blood glucose refers to the blood glucose level measured after an 8- to 10-hour period without food intake, when no dietary load is present. Typically, the optimal time for measurement is between 6:00 a.m. and 8:00 a.m. Fasting blood glucose reflects the body’s basal insulin secretion under conditions free from stress‑inducing factors. Moreover, measuring blood glucose in the fasting state can help assess whether antihyperglycemic medications are effective and whether they are exerting their intended therapeutic effect.

2. Two hours after a meal

The common misconception is that “two hours after a meal” refers to waiting two hours after finishing eating before checking blood glucose levels—this is actually a misunderstanding. In fact, “two hours postprandial” means counting from the moment food enters the mouth. Typically, blood glucose levels peak about two hours after a meal; measuring at this time helps determine whether the meal was appropriate and whether the use of antidiabetic medications is effective.

Relying on a blood glucose meter, effectively test and distinguish blood sugar levels.

Using a blood glucose meter allows for effective, basic monitoring to determine whether blood sugar levels are within an acceptable range, making it a key tool for managing hyperglycemia and diabetes. For individuals already diagnosed with diabetes, regular, timed blood glucose testing—paying close attention to fluctuations in blood sugar—is of paramount importance. The “two hours after a meal” refers to the two-hour period counted from the moment food enters the body.
